Grief and the Healing Path of Poetry--Interactive Poetry Reading and Writing Workshop

Spalding Library, Athens, Pennsylvania

Thursday, April 2, 5:30pm

At this event, I will speak about how poetry—both reading it and writing it—can help us confront loss and heal from it, and I will read from my own work. Then I will lead participants through a variety of simple writing exercises to help them write their own poems in a spirit of exploration and play. We all have experienced loss of one kind or another—everything from losing a loved one to losing a job, a dream, a relationship, or the less personal losses involving climate change and other environmental losses. Reading and writing poems can help us feel companioned in grief and help us to heal.
